We have two fenced dog parks where dogs can exercise off leash and several greenbelt areas with paved paths where you can take your dog for a walk or run. Occasionally pets get separated from their owners and our pet rescue volunteers can provide assistance in locating the lost pet. Once a pet is found they can use several methods to find the owner including their chip reader and our pet registry. While the pet’s owner is being located volunteers will care for the lost pet. At Sun City Palm Desert, we understand how important pets are to their owners and have planned our facilities and services to accommodate our residents who own pets.
 
The most sophisticated Emergency Preparedness in the Valley. If a major earthquake or other serious emergency should occur, our award winning Emergency Preparedness Committee not only has elaborate and well practiced plans to check on and help our residents during the emergency, but also has procedures to rescue lost pets and care for them until their owners can be located. SCPD has a fully equipped Emergency Operations Center as well as a portable Emergency Operations Center we were awarded by the State of California.

We support our residents who still work. A large percentage of our residents are still working so we keep most of our amenities open outside of normal working hours and many of our activities are planned that way as well. The new $500 million Acrisure Arena with an 11,000 capacity is just four miles down the road and is the home of the Coachella Valley Firebirds, the AHL Western Conference winners of both the 2023 and 2024 Calder Cup Championships. Our Coachella Valley Firebirds made it all the way into the 16th minute of the overtime period in the seventh and tie-breaker game of the 2023 Calder Cup Finals, an amazing achievement for the Valley’s ice hockey’s team’s inaugural season that played to sellout crowds in the Acrisure Arena. The Calder Cup is the trophy awarded annually to the playoff champions of the American Hockey League and it was so close to being won in 2023 by the Coachella Valley Firebirds. Now in 2024, with the Coachella Valley solidly behind our beloved professional sports team, the Coachella Valley Firebirds have once again made it all the way to Calder Cup Finals but to the disappointment of their fans, once again lost in overtime.

Top-Tier Concerts and events.  Our amazing Acrisure Arena hosts around 40 home hockey games, more than 40 concerts and 150 other events, from professional and college sports to Monster Trucks, family shows and major concerts including World Tour events at the approximately 11,000 seat venue year-round. The adjoining Iceplex facility is open to all ages and skill levels and offers public skating, a skate academy, the ability to learn to play hockey, as well as the home to an Adult/Junior Hockey League.

Our Postal Center is a USPS contract station; which means we offer most of the same services and pricing as any U.S. Post Office.  We offer Stamps, shipping options and package drop off services for USPS, FedEx, FedEx Express, UPS, and UPS overnight, and have many shipping supplies, like boxes, bubble wrap, tape and mailers.  We also offer Private Mail Boxes, Copy, Fax, & Scan to Email services, and sell Lottery & Scratcher tickets. There are two Notaries Public on staff for walk-in service, so no appointment necessary.  For your convenience, we offer greeting cards, post cards, note cards and small novelty gift items too.  We are open Monday - Friday 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Should a major emergency hit Sun City Palm Desert, our award-winning Emergency Preparedness Committee is here to help. Members of their over 600 resident volunteers check on their neighbors and can radio for our Mobile Medical, Search & Rescue, or Pet Rescue teams for assistance. We have our own emergency radio station so our residents can listen to our community emergency updates on any AM radio and our Emergency Operations Center has back up electrical power and radio communications to the County, Sheriff and the outside world. We practice regularly to keep our volunteers and systems ready to respond quickly to assist and protect our residents in the case of a major emergency.

R/V Lot Rules and Regulations     

Our lot is accessible to registered RV owners 24 HOURS A DAY. Our rules are typical for facilities of this type of lot making safer and clean for all.
  • The use of this lot is restricted to storage only.  Maintenance, washing or similar activities are prohibited.
  • The lot is intended to be used for RV and trailer storage only.  Contractors/vendors that conduct work in the Sun City Palm Desert Community Association will not be permitted to rent a space.
  • Trash disposal is not allowed on-site.  It is your responsibility to keep your space clean and clear of all debris.  The dumping of hazardous materials on-site (oil, fuel, etc) is prohibited.
  • The tongue of your trailer or stilts of your camper must be placed upon a block of wood to protect the parking surface from damage.  If damage is done to the parking surface as a result of your failure to comply with this rule, then you will be responsible for the repair costs.
  • A transponder must be purchased for non-homeowners for a fee of $50.  $25 will be refunded when it is turned in.  The transponder is for 24 access to the RV lot only.
  • The rate for the rental space shall be paid regardless of the size of your vehicle.
  • Sun City Palm Desert Community Association residents shall have first Priority on a waiting list.
